Our Areas of Expertise

Separation and Divorce

When a relationship breaks down, it is important to know where you stand. We provide advice tailored to the specific circumstances of your marriage or de-facto relationship. We are there to guide you every step of the way, making sure things are handled both carefully and efficiently.

Property Settlement and Agreement

Disputes over property once shared in a relationship can be the cause of significant stress. We make sure to understand your objectives in reaching an agreement about how assets are to be divided, and negotiate on your behalf to achieve final, fair, and mutually satisfactory financial agreements.

Children

When parents separate, children often become caught in the cross-fire. We thoroughly understand the vulnerability of children in these situations, and work to craft long-term, sustainable solutions that are in their best interests. Our experience extends to parenting, child support, relocation and abduction matters.

Contested Estates

The law requires certain people to be treated fairly in a deceased’s Will. Where individuals feel aggrieved, they may consider a challenge to a Will. We take the time to understand the family background and dynamics in order to advise and act to obtain resolutions that are just and appropriate.

Domestic Violence

There is a tragic connection between family breakdown and violence and it can have devastating and long-term impacts. We are aware of the importance of identifying such cases at an early stage, and aid in offering immediate strategies to maximise your safety, as well as seeking protective orders where appropriate.

Wills and Probate

Having an current and effective Will is an essential part of planning for the future of those you care about. We have extensive experience in preparing and advising on Wills, estates, and trusts, with a view to minimising the chance of any family disputes, as well as administering Estates following the grant of probate.

HOW WE WORK WITH YOU

Our aim is to be as flexible as possible in order to meet your needs, work schedules and family commitments and to make the process of obtaining sound legal advice as smooth as possible.  We offer an initial face to face conference at an hourly rate to enable you to meet Lesley and get information at the earliest stage.  Alternatively, we can schedule telephone conferences and do so regularly for clients interstate and overseas.  At our initial conference, we will provide you with preliminary legal advice, discuss your options and advise you in relation to practical matters relevant to your circumstances. We will also advise whether we consider you need assistance or advice from other persons such as accountants, financial advisors and counsellors.
